Monday Moments #17~ Our quick trip to Omaha

Last Thursday we went back to Omaha for Camryn to see the urologist again. Last time we saw him he gave us the okay to start weaning her off her medications. We made it about half way through the 3 month process and she started having problems :( We eventually increased her meds again but hadn't returned to the full strength of both of them. Unfortunately Dr. Donovan wants her back on both meds again at full strength. If she can go 3 months without problems then we can try reducing them again. On the plus side she is finally big enough that she can take a pill instead of the liquid. She got a little excited when he said she would get a tablet (meaning pill) and she was thinking tablet meaning something along the lines of an iPad :)

After the visit to the Dr we of course had to make a stop at Chuck E Cheese. We were smarter this time and ate somewhere else before going.

The girls got to watch a couple movies in the car, this one was REALLY funny!

Camryn is normally my poser, this time she did not want me to take a picture.
Friday Brian was off work and Elody really wanted to ride her bike to school. Brian of course gave in I got to follow behind so I could bring her bike back home.

Monday Moments #16~ Trip to the dentist

When Camryn was about 2 she would introduce herself by saying, "Hi, I'm Camryn and I'm expensive." If we had only known how true that would be! Of course all kids are expensive but Camryn seems to be above normal in this area. She started small with a trip to the Dr to get her head glued back together when she was 2, then it was the bladder which required multiple Dr visits and a minor surgery when she was 4, then the eye problem required more Dr visits and trips to Omaha to see better doctors, then a trip to the ER to sew her head up (in almost the same spot as before), then more bladder problems and more Doctors in Omaha, a Spina Bifida Occulta diagnosis, an MRI, etc. etc. I'm sure I'm missing something. She also swallowed a dime but after calling the hospital we decided it was already in her stomach and the best thing to do was just let it pass ;)

On Friday we went to the dentist. Just a normal checkup... Every time we go Dr Bauer tells me how great the girls' spacing is and how I will love that when they start losing teeth. Once again he said this about Elody. It was then that I warned him that even though he had told me that about Camryn I thought something wasn't right. Camryn has lost 3 lower teeth now and after losing the first 2 a tooth started coming in filling the space of both. I know these new "grown up" teeth are much bigger than the baby teeth but the placement of this one just seemed off. Sure enough he took one look at her and immediately wanted x-rays.
You know it's not great news when the doctor gets a funny look and says "I've never seen that in all my years of practice" (and he's not exactly young). Camryn is missing at least one but most likely 2 lower lateral incisors. Apparently it is very common to be missing teeth but not very common to be missing those particular teeth. At this point there is nothing to do but wait and see what her adult teeth do as they grow in but she will most likely need implants at some point.

Monday Moments #15 ~ Easter Egg Hunt

Saturday was the Easter Egg hunt in Hastings and we actually had perfect weather for it! The girls even whined about being hot by the time we were done. The girls were both very excited about going and were even okay with the fact that they likely wouldn't get the golden egg again. After getting it the last 2 years it was time for someone else to get it!
Camryn wanted to pose with the Easter Bunny, Elody wouldn't go near him (can you blame her?? look at that thing!)
The girls with their friend Stella, apparently the sun was a little bright!
take 2... still too bright

Monday moments #14~ sad day for Elody

Elody had the best preschool teacher ever! She has learned so much this year and loves going to school. By the way, this happens be the same teacher Camryn has in kindergarten. Unfortunately, Mrs. Holly is having a baby and Friday was her last day. With just 6 weeks left in the school year she won't be back. The substitute comes highly recommended and will actually be taking over the preschool class next year because Mrs. Holly gets to go back kindergarten! I'm sure Elody will love her new teacher for these last 6 weeks, but she was sure to say goodbye to Mrs. Holly.
