Sunday Snapshot #39~ Vala's!

Lot's of pictures today so I will keep it brief. We went to Vala's yesterday for the first time. It's one of those places I have planned to go to for years but it just never worked out. This year I got a deal online so we got in for about half of what it would normally cost. We originally planned to go after Camryn's doctors appointment in October but then we would have been limited on time or would have needed to stay in a hotel. Also we were afraid the weather would end up bad and I had pre-paid for this deal and didn't want to go if it was freezing. Yesterday was PERFECT weather. It was 65-70 most of the time we were there. The girls had a blast, of course. We were there for about 7 hours and didn't get to everything. Other than the overpriced drinks I was pretty impressed.

Sunday snapshot #38~ firsts

One of my favorite things (next to snuggling with the girls) is being there for the girls' "firsts." We are past the days of many "firsts," you know the days of the first steps, first word, first tooth... Now instead of me being excited about their "first" I get to watch them get excited.
This weekend the girls both got to go to their first Husker game! I'm sure it was the first of many. We had lots of fun and even though the game had a rough start the Huskers managed to pull of a great win. 

I think they were most excited about the cheerleaders.
They both decided they plan to be cheerleaders when they are older.

Herbie came over and gave them both high fives!

Elody liked watching the band and especially the baton twirlers.

Sunday Snapshot #37~ Total Randomness

When I started the "Sunday Snapshot" posts 37 weeks ago I envisioned posting random snapshots to help us remember our daily life at this stage of life. I have done a few of those posts but most have ended up with a certain topic or theme. This week however is an assortment of totally random pictures from our week.


Last weekend we went camping for the first time! Kelly, Regan and Cosette also went so the kids all ended up staying in tents and Kelly, Brian and I stayed in the luxury accommodations of that fine camper you see :) It may not be pretty but it has a bed (kind of) and most importantly air conditioning! It was HOT!

The girls thought the tents were great! And yes, Kelly and her girls are brushing their teeth at the campsite because the water in the bathroom was quite stinky!

 Last week I wrote about Elody starting her last year of preschool. It wasn't all that exciting because she went back to the same preschool as last year. This week that all changed!! She was on a waiting list to get into preschool at Morton (where Camryn goes) and after talking to the teacher we were able to get her in. Not only is she at Morton but she also has the same teacher Camryn had last year (she moved from Kindergarten to Preschool). Elody is beyond excited and I know she will have a great year at Morton.

Thursday was Elody's first day at Morton.

Spinning at the park in Orchard while visiting grandma and grandpa. They had so much fun playing on this.

Camryn insisted on trying this on while we were at the Hastings Museum today. As cute as this is she'd better not ever plan on joining the military! This momma could not handle that!!

P.S. I already know what I will blog about next week and it will be EXCITING! You definitely won't want to miss it :)

Sunday Snapshot #36~ Last year of Preschool!

Tuesday was Elody's first day of preschool. She is back at God Made Me Preschool again (where she went last year) so it didn't really seem like such a big deal... same school, same teacher, same grade. But it is a big deal! This is the last year that she will only be gone for a couple hours a few days a week. In 1 year she will be in kindergarten!! That means in one year she will be gone for 37 1/2 hours a week! Okay, I know that is a lot of exclamation marks but yikes, where has the time gone?? The worst part is she would have gone to kindergarten this year if I (and the law) would have let her. She was very sad that she doesn't get to go to school with Camryn.

Sunday Snapshot #35~ State Fair

Now that the State Fair is in Grand Island we are able to go at least once each year. This year we didn't go as early as normal so we ended up going on Saturday, a HOT Saturday, not our smartest move. The girls of course had fun even with the crowds and heat.

The new butterfly exhibit was definitely a hit!

Lately Elody has been telling me that she is going to be a cop when she grows up so we couldn't pass this one up!

Elody chose to ride the Elephant, she was so brave and insisted on going without a parent.

Camryn passed on the Elephant and Camel and insisted on riding a pony, I really wish we lived where we could have a pony :(
