Random Ramblings from Camryn

Last weekend we went to Lincoln. When we got there we went to the Nebraska State Capitol. My favorite part of the Capitol is the designs on the floor. We also went to the top and looked out the windows. I like to watch the cars go by, they look so small.

I thought this light was cool. I liked all the light bulbs around the outside. We took a picture so we could count how many light bulbs there were. There were 48 light bulbs plus the big one in the middle.

I went upstairs on a balcony. Each side had a different picture, this was my favorite side.

Here are some of the designs I liked. There were lots of different pictures all over the floor. I liked the bat because I think they're cool.

I liked the owl because my mom likes owls too. And both the bat and the owl come out at night.

The next day we went to Morrill Hall. We sat up on the ledge by the Woolly Mammoth. Morrill Hall had lots of animal skeletons. I liked it! My favorite part of Morrill Hall was the habitat part. We didn't take any pictures there. It had sound features and one had a hole where you could see a badger in it.

I liked the elephants. Either side of them you could see an elephants tush. That was kind of weird.

I like turtles because they have their home on their back and their shell protects them. This was in the exploring room. They also had a tree thing you could go into and smelling jars with lots of different scents. One smelling jar even smelled like a skunk YUCK! Another smelling jar smelled like coffee mmmm.

Random Ramblings from Elody

It's Monday and I'm blogging. Of course as soon as I don't have to post on Mondays I can remember. Anyway, it's a new year and I've been trying to come up with a new theme for 2015. Last week I said I wasn't going to post weekly, but I know myself and if I don't have some sort of structure it will end up December and I'll only have one post for the year. I've been trying to decide what to do for 2015 for a couple months now and today it came to me - I'll have the girls write! When they were young I had separate tabs on the blog dedicated to the girls. I wrote about what they were learning, new things they were doing, and what their current interests were. As they got older I gave that up but now they can write on their own (well kind of). So tonight, while Brian and Camryn went to Wal-Mart, I had Elody 'write' her first blog post. Elody of course had to dictate to me but I tried to write it as she said it. There are a couple places where I did a little editing to help with the flow but not much. So here it goes...

Ok, when Camryn was turning 7 the people at Camryn's party got to ride on ponies. My birthday is next month and I'm inviting some people; Keira, Stella, Molly, Aleece, and Camryn. I'll be turning 6. I want to have a cheetah party. I want to do a craft where you paint a cheetah.
How do you like this- I can tie my shoes!  I still have to practice but I'm getting pretty good. Sometimes I do make mistakes.
Today I went back to kindergarten. Today at school we went to our school families. While I was there I colored a clown picture. I got my shirt today. It is pink and says "Kindergarten Rocks" and has all of my friends names on the back. The best part of kindergarten is PE with Mr. Christy. Today in PE we bowled! I liked when we did scooters in PE too, but we don't do those anymore. I also love center time. Today I read books in centers but my favorite thing to do is the art center. Today it was so cold we had inside recess. I played legos and geo-boards. I hope we can go outside tomorrow for recess.

We'll see how long this lasts. This afternoon it seemed like a great idea, now I'm not so sure. I'm guessing it won't last all year, and definitely not weekly, but maybe I'm wrong.

Monday Moments #52~Final Post of 2014!

It's only fitting that my final "Monday Moments" post is not posted on Monday. I have no idea why, but Mondays are not a good day for me to post. I usually think about blogging multiple times each Monday, always when I'm busy, and then by the end of the night I completely forget. I am also running out of things to post. Two years ago when I started posting weekly I had quite a bit to post about. The girls were younger and learned new things everyday. Now they are both in school and most of our days look pretty much the same. I am also learning to sit back and enjoy the moment more. When I worry about getting a perfect picture or trying to record something I can't really watch what is actually happening. I will always take pictures, probably more than necessary, but I will also attempt to live in the moment. All that said, I'm not planning to post on a weekly basis in 2015.

To finish up 2014, here are a few pictures from Christmas. The girls opened all of the gifts under the tree on Christmas eve, we knew we were leaving Christmas morning and wouldn't have enough time. I didn't take a single picture on Christmas Eve - living in the moment remember :) - but I did get a couple pictures on Christmas morning when the girls got their stockings.

The girls with some of their newest "friends"

Ready for stockings!

Proof that Judy Moody Elody was happy for at least a few seconds...

Didn't last long.... Elody was pouting

Camryn swears the hair in her face doesn't bother her. I think she leaves it just because she knows it bothers me!

Elody used a gift card that she got for Christmas to buy this doll. She is the "Holiday Baking" Doll so we decided we needed to make some cookies.

Monday Moments #51 ~ 2014 Morton School Christmas Sing-Along

Elody's Kindergarten class.
It was pajama day but Elody insisted on taking her sweater dress to change into before singing.

Camryn's 2nd grade class.

Monday Moments #50 ~ Sing, sing, sing!

Yesterday the girls got to sing at church in the Christmas choir. They love to sing, especially in front of people. I think this might be my favorite "performance" so far.

Enjoying some donuts and juice before service began, they had to be there at 7:30am!
Excuse the beginning of the video, I didn't want to miss any of the first song.

After church the girls went to Good Samaritan Village to sing Christmas carols for Girl Scouts.

the majority of the girls were kindergarteners which made it difficult, but they had fun

Monday Moments #49~ My baby is growing up!

Saturday Camryn was at a birthday party so Elody and I went to Grand Island. While we were there we decided to go ahead and get her an early Christmas present, she got her ears pierced! We are trying to limit the amount of "stuff" the girls are getting this year, instead we are getting them things they can do (like renewing our Museum membership and possibly paying for Minecraft). Ear piecing seemed to fall into that category since it is another thing that won't take up space in our already-too-full house.
she was all smiles as they prepared

Shortly before they actually did it she decided she was nervous and wanted them to do both at the same time. (Note- they weren't even doing it yet in this picture, but she was rather nervous. Not that she would admit it.)

This is immediately after they did it. Not a single tear!

They were only red for a short time!

SO pretty!

Monday Moments #48 ~ New Pics

These last few weeks when I repeatedly said I had nothing to post I was actually dying to share these. I took these pictures about a month ago but wanted to use them for Christmas cards so I didn't want to share them on the blog yet. I actually haven't mailed all of my cards yet but I did send out a batch to family so I figured I was pretty safe to post now.

This is my personal favorite ;)
