It was a big week for the girls! After more than a year of begging the girls finally got a pet! Camryn was actually pretty open about what she wanted but had one main rule... she wanted something she could touch. That was her way of saying the fish were not cutting it anymore! We did have hermit crabs for a while, mainly because they don't require much attention and they don't smell. Until they die... then they smell :). So after the hermit crabs died we were back to the begging for a pet they could touch.
A little more than 2 years ago we got 2 kittens. They were adorable but horrible. They destroyed everything! No food could be left out anywhere (their favorite was brand new loaves of bread) and they destroyed any toilet paper left out (which made potty training even more fun). In the end they went to live on a farm where they belonged and everyone is much happier.
Recently I had been thinking that we could probably handle a pet now since the girls are older but we were not actively looking for a pet. I asked Camryn what pet she would pick if she could pick anything (no need to ask Elody, she will say repeat anything Camryn says and she will be happy with anything). Camryn decided that #1 was a parrot (I don't even need to explain the many reasons why that was not happening), #2 Cat, #3 Bunny, after that she wasn't sure but ended up listing things like monkeys and tigers. She was also pretty adamant that she did not want a dog. Not totally sure why. I knew that if we waited long enough we would find the right pet for us and we did.
Oliver is 4 1/2 years old and needed a home. He came home with us on Wednesday and spent the entire first day in hiding. Elody got to help bring him home so she saw him but Camryn didn't even get to see him until Thursday :( Each day he comes out a little more and even lets the girls pet him for a short time before he gets scared of some noise and runs back to his hiding spot.

| This was the most we saw of Oliver during the first day. He would run behind the wall in the basement. After the girls were in bed and it was quiet he finally came out this far. |
| Day 2 he finally got down and Camryn got to meet him. (This was actually right after school, it was pajama day) |
| Friday he was down more and let the girls pet and brush him but he was still ready to run at any moment. |
Other fun pictures from our week!

| Wednesday was "dress as your favorite bible character night" for AWANA. The girls both decided to be angels :) | | | | | |

| Elody had a dentist appointment Friday morning. While waiting for Dr Bauer the hygienist let Elody spray the water. |
| Elody thought it was the best thing ever! |
| Friday I went on Elody's field trip to the pumpkin patch. |
| Unfortunately 1/2 day preschool doesn't provide a lot of time to play but they had a lot of fun. |
| Here is Elody's class without Elody because she was in a mood and refused to get in the picture. |
| After school the girls played dentist with the stuff the hygienist sent home with Elody. |
