Awana Cubbies Awards night

Camryn with her Cubbies group
Camryn spotted us so she had to wave :)

Tonight was awards night at Awana. This video is Camryn's cubbies group singing a few songs and reciting their key verses. Unfortunately Camryn is standing behind someone during most of it but you can see her in the back toward the right side (near the adult who stood in the back).

Springfest at Prairie Loft

This afternoon we went to Springfest at Prairie Loft just outside of Hastings. Camryn is quite the little nature lover so I knew she would enjoy this and boy did she!

We started with a nature walk and spent almost an hour walking a trail looking for butterflies and BIRDS! What more could a girl ask for, Camryn was in heaven!! Unfortunately it was windy so we didn't see very many birds but we did spot a hawk and a cardinal. We also saw lots of butterflies and made a quick stop at the bee hives. Every time Dan (our guide) would stop and look something up in his field guide Camryn would be front and center waiting to hear what he had to share. The only way it would have been better would have been if Dora or Diego would have led the way ;) And if we could have seen more birds of course.

Next the girls took a quick ride in the barrel train, always fun of course!

And who doesn't like milking a fake cow?

it's pretty hard work ;)

 Camryn+lots of baby birds= HEAVEN

The duck wasn't as thrilled with Camryn as she was with him.

Elody found a few furry friends.

and Camryn found yet another feathered friend...

Camryn also really liked the bunny and she did great with him. Before you ask, NO we will not be getting one!

A quick ride on a pedal tractor.

and a little more exploring to end the day.

Easter 2012

For those of you who have not been around Elody lately, meet the other side of Elody that didn't appear until sometime around her 3rd birthday. Lately she has been VERY emotional but luckily recovers very quickly and is back to her normal self.

See, she recovers very quickly :)
And the new side of Camryn, she actually has been less moody lately and is hilarious! She comes up with the funniest things to say and likes to pose every time I have the camera out.
Camryn has an extreme love of birds. And all things related to birds: feathers, nests, and EGGS! This made dying Easter eggs even more fun this year. Camryn took lots of time drawing just the right pictures (of birds of course) and also writing her name on the eggs.

Elody scribbled a little on one and then proceeded to put one egg into each color as fast as she could. She is slightly impatient (which probably was the cause of the meltdown seen above).
 Camryn's finished eggs
Egg dying meltdown #2
Camryn and her bird themed Easter basket.
Elody with her Easter basket that was remarkably similar to Camryn's. It's not that I didn't want to buy things Elody likes, it's just that Elody is going through that phase where she only likes the things Camryn has. So I bought duplicates of everything and avoided a meltdown. Oh and when I say "I bought" I really mean the Easter bunny....

Elody again, I couldn't decide which goofy smile was better :)

doctors.... :(

Warning: some images are not intended for those with weak stomachs!

It has been quite a year so far and we aren't even to May yet! Considering the girls are actually very healthy we have spent a lot of time in doctors' offices!

January 6, 2012
The beginning of this year Camryn had a cystoscopy (bladder scoped) and had her urethra dilated. Her urethra was definitely smaller than it should have been and this procedure has helped immensely but we are still battling overactive bladder. Her bladder spasms which causes leaking. She has been on medicine for this since last June and it has made a huge difference. Unfortunately it causes mood issues and we are trying to get her off of it. She currently is doing half of her morning dose and a full night dose and is doing well. She also has been dry 7 of the last 8 nights which has NEVER happened before! We are starting to see the light at the end of this very long tunnel.

March 27, 2012
About a month ago I made the mistake of saying that Elody hadn't been on an antibiotic in over a year and a half. In fact she hadn't even been to the doctor except for check-ups. Of course it was less than a week later when we ended up at the doctor with a VERY sick Elody. She had a very high fever, a horrible cough, a pretty bad ear infection, and was diagnosed with bacterial pneumonia. In true Elody style she recovered very quickly.

In late February I noticed Camryn's left eye was crossing when she would look at me from about a foot away. We immediately called a ophthalmologist and got an appointment for early March. Camryn was very cooperative with the Dr. except she wouldn't talk. This made for a somewhat difficult exam but the Dr told us that she was far sighted but not bad enough to need glasses and he wasn't worried about the crossing unless it got worse (he wasn't able to see it in the 3 min he tried...). Of course it got worse, quick! So we made another appointment and were able to get back in 2 weeks after the first appointment. He was able to see the crossing a little during this visit, seemed slightly annoyed we were back so soon, and again told us to wait until it gets bad.

After calling a couple other Ophthalmologists we ended up at a Pediatric Ophthalmologist in Omaha on April 4th. He was immediately able to see the crossing and actually could see that it was worse than we thought. She has an intermittent esotropia due to over-focusing. He prescribed glasses and told us that if we had waited for it to get worse she could have eventually lost sight in that eye. She has been wearing the glasses for 2 weeks and LOVES them (most of the time). More importantly as long as she is wearing the glasses her eyes are not crossing!

Last night we were at a friends house for supper and Miss Camryn was running down a hall on wood floors and fell into a wall. She split her head open in about the same spot she did 2 1/2 years ago. Luckily there was also an EMT and a nurse there so they were able to get the blood stopped and we made the trip to Hastings (we were about 15 miles outside of town).

April 21, 2012
Once she got calmed down she was actually in a pretty good mood. Especially considering it happened at 8pm and we were at the hospital until 11.

Elody also was in a pretty good mood but we did have to do a little entertaining :)

April 21, 2012

The topical medicine they used to deaden the cut was AMAZING. Camryn didn't feel anything while he was sewing her up. She was a great little patient and is very proud of her 7 stitches!

Add to all of this the Kindergarten check up in March and the visit we will have to make on Friday to get the stitches out and it is safe to say I am sick of going to the doctor and even more sick of paying the bills!

more snow :)

This tree is usually nowhere near this low to the ground. In fact I'm pretty sure I can normally walk under it and today not even Elody could!

Every time we play in the snow Camryn makes snow angels, usually within 30 seconds of walking out the door.
and anything Camryn does, Elody of course copies :)
I LOVE the look on Camryn's face right before she throws a snowball (or in this case a huge chunk of snow) at Brian. She thinks she is pretty funny!

Brian made a hill in the front yard so the girls could sled. Elody had a blast!!Camryn got in on that fun too of course

then Camryn decided the hill would make a good bear cave and began digging...
with daddy's help she did it!
it's all fun and games until you sink in and lose a boot!
Elody had to try out the bear cave too of course :)
