In the last 2 years Camryn has seen a number of different doctors, each time she seems to like the new one even more than the last. On Friday Camryn met her newest favorite when I took her to a Chiropractor. I had been planning to take her to one for years and then didn't after the Spina Bifida Occulta diagnosis. Last week I went to a new chiropractor and while talking to him I found out that he also has Spina Bifida Occulta. After getting Camryn's x-ray from the Children's hospital I finally made her an appointment.
I could go on and on about my frustrations regarding this diagnosis, I will try to keep it short. We have been happy with the Children's hospital and actually have had great success with the treatment she has received from her urologist, however, there has really been very little follow up about the Spina Bifida Occulta. The main reason being there really is nothing we need to do about it, which is a good thing. That said, I would have liked to have had it explained better. So now, 6 months later, I finally understand. Dr. Anderson, the chiropractor, explained where the problem is (which is not where I was told before) and also explained what actually happened when her spine was forming. There still is nothing we really need to do about it but it is nice to understand!
By the way, the Spina Bifida Occulta was not the real reason I took her to the Chiropractor. I actually took her because her feet turn in when she walks. He explained that this is because her hips were too far forward and her sacrum was too far behind them. Her hips were also very uneven and he believes her left leg is shorter than the right. Plus while we were there he found that something was way out of wack in her neck and she has now slept MUCH better than she ever has before!

We will be following up with Dr Anderson a few more time at least to determine what, if anything, needs to be done about her shorter leg. He is also slowly working to get her feet to be straighter when she walks. They seem to be better already but not perfect.
