Sunday Snapshot #34~ Camryn's new favorite doctor

In the last 2 years Camryn has seen a number of different doctors, each time she seems to like the new one even more than the last. On Friday Camryn met her newest favorite when I took her to a Chiropractor. I had been planning to take her to one for years and then didn't after the Spina Bifida Occulta diagnosis. Last week I went to a new chiropractor and while talking to him I found out that he also has Spina Bifida Occulta. After getting Camryn's x-ray from the Children's hospital I finally made her an appointment.

I could go on and on about my frustrations regarding this diagnosis, I will try to keep it short. We have been happy with the Children's hospital and actually have had great success with the treatment she has received from her urologist, however, there has really been very little follow up about the Spina Bifida Occulta. The main reason being there really is nothing we need to do about it, which is a good thing. That said, I would have liked to have had it explained better. So now, 6 months later, I finally understand. Dr. Anderson, the chiropractor, explained where the problem is (which is not where I was told before) and also explained what actually happened when her spine was forming. There still is nothing we really need to do about it but it is nice to understand!

By the way, the Spina Bifida Occulta was not the real reason I took her to the Chiropractor. I actually took her because her feet turn in when she walks. He explained that this is because her hips were too far forward and her sacrum was too far behind them. Her hips were also very uneven and he believes her left leg is shorter than the right. Plus while we were there he found that something was way out of wack in her neck and she has now slept MUCH better than she ever has before!

Spina Bifida Occulta found at T11 and T12

Close up of x-ray, vertical line on T12 shows Spina Bifida Occulta
We will be following up with Dr Anderson a few more time at least to determine what, if anything, needs to be done about her shorter leg. He is also slowly working to get her feet to be straighter when she walks. They seem to be better already but not perfect.
She was pretty excited about getting her first adjustment!

of course Elody had to try out the table too

Sunday Snapshot #33~ First Grade!!

Camryn's first day of first grade was Thursday. She has been counting down the days and was so excited she didn't sleep much the night before. Last year she kept telling us she wanted to be a "grader." For a while I wasn't sure what she was talking about but she finally explained that the older kids are all graders and kindergarteners are not (first-graders, second-graders...). I hope her first year as a "grader" is everything she hoped it would be!

I always have to let Camryn choose one pose

Camryn's friend Addison is in her class again, there are only 3 girls so hopefully they get along!

South Dakota Vacation 2013

I finally went through the pictures on my camera from vacation. I tried to narrow it down from the more than 200 I started with but only got it to around 50. I don't think I want to try to upload that many pictures on here so I am trying out the Shutterfly share site I started years ago but never used. We will see how that works. Unfortunately the program I used in the past to upload entire albums now costs. We will see how this one works for now...

Sunday Snapshot #32~ Elody's prize

Seems like I've had a lot of quick posts lately, here comes another. I still haven't gone through all of the vacation pictures so who knows when I will post more of that. I'm not sure what happened to the past week. There were a few days that we were hardly home and others when we were home but busy doing fun things like cleaning up a mess in the basement when the sewer line was clogged and no plumber in town had time to come!
Anyway, before vacation Allen's had their annual July Jamboree. I am not a huge fan because it means LOTS of people but we always make it over once or twice to enter the drawings. On Saturday we went for their kids day and the girls got to play games and won a few small prizes. This week when the ad came out it had Elody's name in it. She won one of the kids prizes!

Sunday (video) Snapshot #30~VBS

The girls had VBS this week and today they got to sing their songs during both services at church. We only recorded first service which means fewer kids and they were still pretty sleepy but it was easier to see them during that service.

The preschool kids went first, I think most of them were still asleep!

Then the grade school kids got to do their songs.  I can't believe how fast the kids picked up on these songs. They only had music time for about 20 minutes each night and each night they learned a different song.
Change My Heart oh God
Speak Up
The Ride of Your Life (ABC)
Stand Strong
I Will Trust You
Colossal Coaster World (VBS Theme Song)
