Monday Moments #28~ More random summer fun!

It was another busy summer week without too many pictures. Here are a few quick snapshots.

Elody being goofy at the store, seriously she is way too cute!

The girls went to VBS at the Berean church this week. Elody is close to the front on the left, Camryn is toward the back almost center (right behind the kid with his hand in the air)

Friday evening we went to see the play "Cinderella's Glass Slipper." During intermission the girls went outside to warm up and of course take goofy pictures with Stella.

Camryn got this horse for her birthday, this week we FINALLY finished Snowflake's stable. Now Elody just needs to save up enough money to get a horse for the other stall.

Monday Moments #27~ Water fight!!

Lesson learned... next year I will not post on Mondays! I don't know what my deal is with Mondays but I apparently have a very hard time remembering to post. Anyway, after some exceptionally good weather this summer we finally have had a few hot days. The girls wanted to play in the sprinkler a few days ago which somehow turned into them having a water fight with the hoses. Camryn of course "won" the fight and Elody spent most of the time turning and running away from Camryn.

They started by playing nice and both had their hoses set to "mist."

it didn't take long for Camryn to overtake Elody

Elody thought she would take advantage and spray Camryn while Camryn changed the setting on her sprayer,

then Camryn came back with something a bit more powerful!
The most shocking part was that they both got soaked and nobody ended up mad!

Monday Moments #26~ one more reason to move to the country...

There are many reasons I would love to live in the country, not too far away from civilization but far enough away that I wouldn't hear my neighbors. The girls have a much shorter list that until now mainly consisted of the fact they want horses. Their list grew this weekend when they got to shoot guns!

Seriously, how cute are they?! And they were good. They were shooting at pop cans and they were hitting more often than not!

Monday Moments #25~Zoo!

One of the things I always wanted to do when the girls were little was to take them to the zoo. I believe Camryn was just 1 when we took her for the first time. In my mind I was sure she would LOVE seeing all of the animals. I thought it would be the greatest day of her life and she wouldn't want to leave. Wow was I wrong, she liked the first few animals and then got overwhelmed and tired and was ready to leave. Even after the failed attempt at enjoying the zoo 6 years ago we have tried to go back almost every year. Each year Camryn and Elody would enjoy parts of the zoo but usually lost interest faster than we expected. I think last year was the only year in the last 6 years that we didn't go which means Elody hadn't been since she was 3. Elody definitely doesn't have the memory Camryn has so when we went to the zoo last week it was like she was going for the first time. This year for the first time both of the girls had a great time at the zoo. They didn't seem to mind the fact that it was 96° and they also didn't mind that we had to rush through most of the zoo since we got there much later than expected. We spent more time in some areas than others (depending on the girls' interest) but we saw almost everything in the 4 hours we were there. I think next summer we will try to go in the morning like we have done before so the temperatures are more tolerable.

the lion shared my feelings on the heat

While Elody did enjoy the zoo, she still had the same feelings as always when it comes to me taking her picture!

unless it's her idea, then she likes to pose

Camryn on the other hand wants her picture taken constantly

Elody had to see if she was as tall as the Orangutan too

The girls got to be up close to quite a few animals

seriously this child insists on having her picture taken every chance she gets!

Monday Moments #24~ Trip to the ranch

Wednesday the girls and I (along with Kelly, Regan and Cosette) made a trip to visit my Grandma, Aunt Peg, and Uncle Bob. The girls LOVE going to the ranch so we try to go twice a year. We have managed to hit the hottest days in the summer and the coldest days in the winter. This time we finally had great weather! It was warm during the day and cool at night.

On Wednesday, before going to the ranch, we went to Alliance. We had to stop at Carhenge to get a geocache and the girls signed the autograph cars.

Camryn signed all of the autograph cars :)

Elody, Regan, Camryn, and Cosette at Carhenge

Camryn found a friend at the ranch :)

too bad I didn't take a real camera.... it is so peaceful at the ranch

The girls of course loved the horses

They weren't thrilled that I made them stay on opposite side of the gate but they finally got the mare to come close enough to touch.
We try to stop at Cody Park in North Platte each summer on our way home. The rides there are super cheap and the girls have always loved them. This year the girls are almost getting too big, how did that happen?!?

This has always been Camryn's favorite, I think by next summer she will be too tall to ride :(

Elody had to do this one alone this year because Camryn was too tall. Elody is in the pink one.

Elody wanted me to sit with her on the carousel.

Monday Moments #23~ Camryn is 7!!

I know I wrote about Camryn's 7th birthday party last week but she didn't actually turn 7 until the 6th. We didn't do anything too major to celebrate since she had already had her party and got the majority of her presents early. She picked Applebees for supper and requested brownies with chocolate frosting. Also, like always, she got flowers from daddy :)

The girls love waking up on their birthdays and going downstairs to find their flowers!

I know I say this every year but she is growing up WAY too fast!!

Monday moments #22~Camryn's 7th Birthday Party

Saturday we celebrated Camryn's 7th birthday. She has wanted it to be a horse party for about a year so we went with that and surprised her with pony rides for the party.

SEVEN!!
Love her!
Coloring while we waited for everyone to arrive, they were all so calm and quiet!
Group picture before heading outside, notice Elody's scowl (she was in quite a mood all day)
Camryn was completely surprised and very excited to have pony's at her party!
Elody finally smiled, probably the first time all day.
man I wish I lived where we could have horses!
Camryn with her new boots!
She was just as excited to lead the pony as she was to ride it!
Elody was thrilled to lead the "big" pony.
They had a great time!
This might be my favorite picture from the whole day, it totally captures the emotion of both Camryn and Elody!
Horse shoes, ladder ball, and silly string!!
Camryn with her new friend Lily Anna.
The girls got right to work when we got home with some of Camryn's gifts.
Elody with Mary Lyn, and Camryn with Lily. Grandma Sue bought them matching pajamas.
