Monday Moments #43 ~ Fall Fun

Last Thursday I went on the kindergarten field trip to the pumpkin patch. It was incredibly foggy and wet from rain the day before but we had a lot of fun!

This was my group: Bo, Elody, Jack, and Owen

Jack and Elody

Seriously, they are way too cute!
Sunday afternoon the girls had a Girl Scout Halloween party. This party was only for K-3rd graders so there were about 100 princesses, 20 witches, and then my children... a banana and a dog. They like to be individuals, what can I say?

These are not the "official" costumes for this year. They are saving their real costumes for Halloween.

Monday Moments #42 ~ Sick kids + no school = lots of time at home!

Last Wednesday Camryn went to school complaining of a sore throat and came home with a fever and a cough. That evening her breathing was wheezy but she acted fine and was in a good mood. Of course around 8:15pm (15 min after Convenient Care closed) she suddenly got worse. She leaned back on the sofa and couldn't catch her breath. The gasping sounds and look of panic on her face solidified that we were headed to the ER. As we headed out the door she started coughing so hard that I thought she was going to throw up, instead she told me she was fine now and didn't need to go to the hospital. I assumed she was just scared about going and we headed on our way.
Remarkably we got into a room immediately and after we answered all of the crazy Ebola-based questions we realized Camryn didn't even sound wheezy anymore. By this point she could hardly whisper but other than that she looked like a totally normal 7 year old. She even rated her pain as NONE, i.e. she pointed to the biggest smiley face!! We did a strep test (which came back negative) and declined the expensive influenza test and the even more expensive enterovirus test and headed home.
I am grateful that she didn't have anything wrong but frustrated that we will soon receive a hefty bill for an incredibly pointless trip to the ER. That said, if she ever struggles to breathe like that again, we will head straight back to the ER. Well... maybe we will make her cough first :)

Of course Elody had the cough by Thursday/Friday so we sacked out at home and didn't do much. The girls were already out of school Thursday and Friday due to conferences. By Sunday I was going a little stir crazy. We got some much needed work done around the house but there is something about not being able to go anywhere that really makes me want to go somewhere!
Sunday we decided to get out the bookshelves that have been sitting in the garage for months waiting to be painted. Elody wanted to help but was not thrilled with the outfit I picked out for her to paint in :)
my little helper
Elody has dubbed these adorable purple pants her "fireman pants." She obviously wears way too many pairs of leggings and skinny jeans and therefore decided that since these are loose she looks like a fireman.

Monday Moments #41 ~ Vala's and more fun videos :)

Saturday we went to Vala's Pumpkin Patch in Gretna again. Last year was our first year to go there and the girls loved it! It really is way more than a pumpkin patch. In fact, we didn't even get pumpkins. Last year was almost perfect. The girls had a great time, the weather was perfect and it was busy but not packed. This year was a little different. We learned the hard way that mid-October, on a 60-70 degree Saturday, with no Husker game, Vala's is PACKED! The girls once again had fun, and the weather was beautiful, but it was seriously crazy how many 1000's of people were there.

This was so much fun! The girls got to ride on the front and Brian and I had to pedal (I had to get off to take the picture)

Elody wasn't old enough for these so we just watched

the girls loved this!

This was a favorite last year and was again this year. I think they could spend the whole day on the slide

Oh Camryn....

Elody choose the pony ride and Camryn choose to spend her money on a bag of rocks for to "mine."

I love Elody's poses :)

The traffic trying to get into Vala's as we left. It was backed up more than a mile. I wish I would have taken a picture of the parking lot too.
Sunday morning the girls got to sing at church. It was supposed to be 1st-6th grade but Elody practiced hard and worked her way into the group :) I recorded during first service, Camryn was even more animated in second service!

Monday Moments #40 ~2k, Prairie loft, and a monkey bar update :)

Another busy weekend... Saturday I was gone all day for my Aunt Anne's funeral and Brian stayed home to take the girls to the "Thin Mint Sprint," (a girl scout 2k) they had signed up for and really wanted to do. Since I wasn't there Brian had strict instructions to take lots of pictures.

Race shirts on, ready to go!

a little stretching before the big race

starting line

Camryn in the lead, yet she ended up last because apparently talking was more important :)

Camryn, Serena, Elody, and Haley after the race
Sunday afternoon we went to Prairie Loft's Harvest Celebration. The girls always love going to Prairie Loft and especially love when there are animals there!
Camryn spent a lot of time with the goats

Elody got to sit on the llama!

and she found a bunny!
Also on Sunday afternoon, Elody and Brian rode bikes to Morton. Elody insisted that Brian take another video of her on the monkey bars after last week's not so great video. This one is a little better :)

Monday Moments #39~ my little monkey

I might have to go back and count how many of these "Monday" posted actually got posted on Monday... seriously this is getting ridiculous! Anyway, here we go again, late Tuesday night and I don't have much to post.

Here are a couple pictures from our weekend.
waiting for the parade to start

Elody was so excited about something and I already forgot what, oops

Apparently every day at recess Elody is on the Monkey Bars, she even has the blisters to prove it! And every day after school Elody wants to show me how she can go across. Last night I went to PTO and the girls played on the playground for a while with Brian. Before I went in Elody had to show me what she could do. Of course I didn't get a great video of her going all the way but I did record a little.

In case you were wondering, Camryn apparently spends all of her playground time on the swings. No pictures right now but man can that girl swing!

Monday Moments #38 ~ Cheer Camp 2014

Friday night the girls got to cheer at the Hastings High football game.  Camryn has done this a couple times before and Elody is always so jealous. Finally Elody is old enough to go too!

Camryn with her friend Addie (Addie was avoiding pictures all night... this was the best I got)

Elody posed for me every time I held up the camera :)

They got to cheer the team onto the field, they both loved this part!

Here is a combination of videos I took. I added some captions so you know what was going on. Poor Elody had a cold that totally knocked her out. She was feeling okay when we got there but it didn't last long. A little ways into the 2nd qtr she gave up and came to sit with us.

Monday Moments #37

Saturday we went to Grand Island to look for new glasses for Brian. Apparently Brian has a large head, meaning there are very few glasses that fit him correctly. After stopping at multiple eyeglass stores the girls decided to take things into their own hands and pick out glasses for him.
Elody's choice

Camryn's choice
Needless to say... we did not buy new glasses! We did find a few pairs better than these but nothing that Brian really liked. It's looking like he might look into contacts rather than spending $500+ on glasses that either don't fit or look hideous!

Since I don't have much to post this week I figured I should finally share some pictures I took of Camryn a while back. I still need to take Elody's pictures so I have been saving Camryn's but I decided it's been long enough.

she looks so grown up!!

we call this her "senior picture pose"
